Ryan Kordek is known around Babson Park for growing longleaf pines and planting them in the preserves and scenic locations throughout the town. He has also gifted them in 3 gallon containers for people to plant in their yards.
Longleaf pines were the landmark tree growing in the Babson Park area, but were long ago timbered out and only a few of the stately pines remain around the Crooked Lake area. The Defenders have partnered with Ryan to restore them to the landscape, celebrating Arbor Day. Ryan & Sally planted them In the Crooked Lake Sandhill preserve, on Windy Hill, and on the Chapman Oak Trail near Babson Park Elementary. You can see other pines planted as you drive along Scenic Highway through Babson Park!
