Defenders Celebrate Earth Day

On April 21st, 2018, Defenders of Crooked Lake members and Babson Park residents took part in a “Pillar to Pillar” clean up and beautification effort to honor Earth Day and the memory of Helen Morrison. Targeted clean up locations included Scenic Highway’s drainage ditches, storm drains, and sidewalks. Clean up efforts were also made on Thornburg Road.

A majority of the debris collected included single use plastic items and other recyclable materials such as glass bottles and paper.

Participants described the day as wonderful and felt proud to do our part in Edward W. Bok’s philosophy – to work toward making the world a bit better and more beautiful for having lived in it.

Mark Armstrong, Bunny Wetzel and her two grandchildren, Ty and Larae, reclaimed a section of sidewalk in Babson Park. Sally Morrison said that Larae was the youngest “earther” in attendance!
